We are the mothers of #DontreHamilton, #DerekWilliams, #BrandonJohnson, and others who have been lost to police brutality and racial violence. We have come together in Milwaukee and across the nation to fight for Justice for our children and to build power within our communities. We assert that #BlackLivesMatter, that our babies' lives matter, and that we will no longer tolerate the abuses thrust upon us by those who are sworn to serve and protect.
Mothers for Justice United is an organization of mothers whose unarmed children have been killed by police officers and white vigilantes. It is also comprised of concerned mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, clergy, and other citizens nationwide who care about the loss of these valuable lives cut short unnecessarily. We provide safe and brave spaces for these mothers to connect, share their stories, experiences, and also process their pain. These avenues of connection and nurturing have allowed these mothers to reconcile with their individual losses and use their pain to join the collective fight against injustice. We are committed to halting the epidemic of the killing of unarmed people of color by police and white vigilantes in this country through direct action, legislation, and community building.
It is our goal to bring as many mothers and community members as possible to Washington, D.C. this Mother's Day Weekend, 2015, for a Million Moms March on the US Department of Justice. We need your help to get there. We are looking for folks to organize with the mothers and other supporters in their own communities, fundraise, advertise, and stay connected with us on a national level. If you are interested in helping us, please follow this link to fill out a brief survey of your skills and interests. If you know of any mothers or family members who have lost loved ones to this type of violence who are interested in coming to Washington, please have them fill out this survey. Once you do so we will follow up!
We ask all of you to stand with us, to spread the word about our struggle, and to join us on Mother's Day weekend as we take our fight directly to this nation's capitol, Washington, DC. Talk to your family and friends. Partake in organizing efforts in your city. We need you to show up!
