Four Years Later
Can you believe it's been four years since our movement was born from a rag-tag occupation on the doorstep of global capitalism? What started with a few tents has infected the whole world with its irresistible rebellion. Born from the beautiful rage of the #ArabSpring and the corruption of democracy by global financial elites, from the righteous indignation of the #SpanishRevolution, from the Civil Rights marches and the Black Panther resistance, from We The People's long history of bold civil disobedience in the face of escalating attacks on workers, on women, on immigrants, on the 99%.
On this fourth anniversary, we return to our roots: the streets!
(1) Join us for the NYC Day of Action against Racism, Gentrification & Police Brutality (#TakeBackOurCommunities) -- (RSVP on Facebook!)
(2) Here's a message from Occupy Wall St. in NYC:
From #BlackLivesMatter to labor rights and housing defense, we have all been very busy working towards a new future. In NYC We will gather in small assemblies to share what we are all up to now, the affect and effect of Occupy, and to vision possible futures. (RSVP on Facebook here)
We request that people across the United States act in solidarity by taking two hours on #S17 to check in with your local political community. Please post your events in the comments so we can share them far and wide.
(3) And after we gather in Zuccotti Park, join us at Bluestockings Bookstore for Occupy + 4: A Reading from The Occupiers: a reading from The Occupiers, with Author Michael Gould-Wartofsky (RSVP here on Facebook).
And as we always say: Keep Fighting,
The OccupyWallSt.NYC Team
